Parent’s Day

July welcomes Parent's Day.  What better opportunity for family bonding?  After all, the family that exercises together grows stronger together, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Family activities are a significant way to increase life expectancy, lower heart dangers, help control weight, and a bonus for the kids, enhance school productivity. Exercise also encourages a healthy release of your children's energy. Furthermore, exercising together as a family encourages outdoor activities to youngsters promoting an active lifestyle at an early age helping them shape a solid lifestyle in the future.

In celebration of Parent's Day, here are five ideas for family wellness that can get you moving.

Set aside a few minutes to play

Set aside 30 minutes three times each week to do fun activities with your children. Make it a piece of your after-school or after-supper schedule. Depending on your child's age you can work in some driveway basketball or even things as classic and simple as hide and seek.

When it comes to working in regular exercises or activities, consistency is key. It can be as basic as taking little ones to the park or as challenging as an all day trek or mountain hike. The key to getting children moving is arranging a time for physical exercises and encouraging them by doing it yourself as well. Trying out various approaches to keeping everyone active will help kids discover activities they will want to pursue on their own later in life.

Walk or ride the bicycle everywhere you can

Use muscle force: Bike or walk to the store, library, or to your kid's school or sports events. Go for a 30-minute family stroll after supper instead of heading to the TV. Track everybody's mileage or ventures with a pedometer, and attempt to make it a fun competition among the family. Utilize a family practice log or cute stickers to keep tabs on your development. Put your log or diagram on the fridge as encouragement to keep everyone competitive and involved.

Arrange active gatherings

Kids love parties.  Why not conceal health-oriented activities as parties.  Teens may appreciate an expansive social affair or dance party.  Easy social activities that encourage active bodies are pool parties, skating, ice skating, and more recently, indoor rock climbing gyms.

Sing and dance while you clean

Cleaning the house is unavoidable.  Why not make it fun and healthy? Designate a time that the family can do chores together. Play music as you clean and ask other family members to pick out the tunes to get them involved.

Make yard work less of a “chore” and more of a family activity

Similarly to turning indoor cleaning into a family affair, yard work can be a fun activity, too.  Enjoy regular yard work together and make it fun for everyone.  During spring, let kids pick out which veggies they want to plant in a new garden.  During summer, enjoy running in the sprinklers after pulling weeks.  In fall, “reward” kids by letting them jump in a pile of leaves after they rake them up.  During winter, reward snow shoveling with building a family snow fort afterward.

As you can see, there's so many ways to be active together as a family.  From all of us at BQuick Nutrition, take advantage of Parent's Day to keep the family moving.
