Among the renowned long-distance running events in the world, the New York City Marathon is among the world's most respected marathons, Along with the United States' Boston and Chicago Marathons. Considerably, it is one of the largest marathons in the world. 2013 estimates put the number at participating runners at 50,304.
To complete the New York City Marathon, endurance runners take on 26.219 miles throughout the five boroughs of New York City. This marathon event captivates endurance runners, professional athletes, and neophyte runners from all over the world at the beginning of each November.
The New York Marathon isn't open to anyone. Due to the eminent status of the race, the involvement is through a lottery system. Members of the NYRR runners can take advantage in the admission by meeting the requirements for guaranteed entry or through nomination from an official running organization.
Indeed, they are fun and exhilarating, but marathons are not for the unexperienced. Endurance runners need, at a minimum, months of training. To truly compete for fast results, years of experience are required.
