Basics of Proper Health and Fitness

Posted on 10/13/2014 to News
A healthy lifestyle is a conscious choice.  We've said it before, as have others, but we'll say it again.  “Health is wealth.”  Are you ready to make an effort to live a healthy lifestyle?

Just imagine.

  • reduced sickness
  • positive mental states
  • improved confidence
  • enhanced relationships, and so much more

The first step towards a healthier lifestyle is the easiest and the hardest all at the same time.  If you're new to fitness, start small.

Beginners: keep moving

We get it.  Once you're burned out from the day's regular events, it is hard to find the motivation to jump into exercising or working out.  With regular fatigue from work overload and unhealthy luxuries, we find ourselves sedentary too often.  Between working at a desk, watching TV,  surfing Facebook and just sitting, in general, it is a good idea to change positions often or stand up every 15 minutes or so.

Something as simple as standing more often gives your body an opportunity to circulate blood flow better and to exercise the joints, even if it is brief.

Are you on a more advanced level?  Perhaps you're an endurance runner.  Maybe you're a seasoned triathlete?  The basics are still important for you, too.

Pros: always stretch and use proper form

Whatever you do to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle, make sure you do it right.  As always, proper form and stretching are key to any sports or athletics participation.  Don't try and cut corners by skipping stretching or not learning the proper form of exercises to try and save time towards achieving a healthy lifestyle.  More than likely you will do the opposite and cause pain or injure yourself which will remove yourself from participation.

There are a lot of athletic activities and opportunities for fitness.  Choose an activity that you thoroughly enjoy so that you can commit to regular participation.  Consistency is key.
